This fort is located on the hill near the Nivati village. HISTORY:    Shivaji Maharaj built this fort promptly after the Sindhudurg stronghold was constructed. This stronghold was utilized to investigate the Karli river and the Vengurla port. This post was later caught by Sawant of Sawantwadi. In 1748, Ismail Khan, who was working under the Portuguese, caught this fortress. In 1787 Karvirkar of Kolhapur picked up control of this post. In 1803, the control of the fortification go to Sawant's. The H.M. IV Rifles of the British Army caught this fortress on February 4, 1818, with no obstruction.
